Abstract submission guidelines

One participant may submit and make only one oral / poster / film presentation in the Congress.

Call for papers

General information

Abstracts are submitted via abstract submission system to a specific panel. Once you submit an abstract, you cannot edit it.

Decision on evaluation will be communicated by Organizing committee only to the presenting author after the evaluation.

All presenters are asked to register and pay registration fee (including membership) to ensure their participation in the scientific program of the Congress (final program and book of abstracts). Please consult the registration form for deadlines.

 

Oral and poster presentations

Presentations can be oral or poster. You can choose a format of your presentation in the abstract submission system (oral/poster).

In both cases,

  • title – limited to 20 words;
  • abstract – limited to 250 words;
  • keywords – limited to 5 keywords

are submitted to a specific panel, and must be in English. It is recommended that you browse through accepted panels and decide to which panel you wish to submit an abstract to. When submitting an abstract, please choose a desired panel from the list in the abstract submission system.

If you are a panel convenor and you wish to have a presentation in your own panel, please note that you must submit an abstract via online abstract submission system and accept it during evaluation. Organizers do not book a time slot for convenors’ introductory presentations by default.

 

Oral presentations

Length of oral presentations: Each presenter will have a maximum of 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. Please stick to the schedule and timing.

Language: The official language of the Congress is English and all abstracts should be in English. If you wish to present in a different language, please inform the convenors about this and make sure that your oral presentation is accompanied by extended slide presentation (such as PowerPoint) in English. Also, please be aware that the discussion will be held in English. Organizers cannot provide simultaneous or consecutive translators.

 

Poster presentations

If you are having a poster presentation submitted to a particular panel, please note that general poster session will be organized separately from the panel you are submitting your abstract to. During poster session, you should stay by your poster as people will be probably approaching with questions.

Requirements:

  • Size: maximum 120 X 80 cm.
  • Orientation: portrait.
  • Language: English.

 

 

Call for films

General information

Ethnographic film session

If you wish to submit a film for screening at the Congress, you can do it in the abstract submission system by choosing a preferred format: film.

Requirements:

When submitting a film, required information is the following:

  • Movie title (in English, limited to 20 words); Original movie title (if different from English); Abstract text (limited to 250 words); Keywords (limited to 5 keywords).
  • Duration (films should not be longer than 30 minutes).
  • Year of production (films should have been completed on or after January 1st, 2018).
  • Country of production.
  • Private or public link for review (all submitted films need to be accessible on-line and the authors need to provide a working public or private link to a review copy viewable online – Vimeo, You Tube, etc.).
  • Sponsorship (if any – optional; e. g. IUAES Commission, Ethno Museum, Ministry of Culture etc.).

Language and technical information:

  • Films should be in English or subtitled in English.
  • The format for the screening must be in mp4 format.
  • Accepted films must be sent to Organizing Committee in advance (deadline will be communicated with authors on time).
  • After the screening of your film, there will be 5 minutes window for Q&A.
